3D Holography

3D Holography

Our full, three-dimensional holograms bring an exciting visual element to a variety of applications. Created from a one-to-one scale model, we are able to create a true 3D hologram.

Used with custom imagery, 3D holography helps create a lasting and powerful impact with consumers. It has proven to be extremely versatile: using 3D holography brings a sense of fun, and nostalgia as this was the early start to holography.

3D is often used in anti-counterfeit but often combined with multiple holography types. The more complex the design, the harder it is to counterfeit and replicate the holography.

AR Metallizing is also able to incorporate further anti-counterfeit measures into 3D holography (details which can’t be seen to the naked eye, or which are only visible with lasers, for example).

No matter which applications it is used for, 3D holography can be leveraged to create a dynamic viewing experience for a variety of products or print media, or as a measure to help protect brands and their merchandise from being imitated.

FAQ about 3D Holography

  • Holography performs similarly to standard metallized paper and does not require any additional steps or special inks or processes. The product may need to run at speeds slightly slower than normal printing run speeds for say a white coated paper but ultimately it performs like any other coated paper during printing and converting.

  • In holography there is what is called a seam or shim line that is a part of the holography process. It is possible to eliminate and or minimize the number seam (shim) lines and also to hide these lines inherent in the holography process.

  • To create a holographic pattern an additional production step within the direct metallizing process is required and that happens after our pre-coating is applied and before metallizing begins. Holography patterns are embossed into our pre-coat prior to metallization and once metallized the image/pattern comes alive with color and imagery.

  • In direct metallizing process, yes, holography must cover the whole application. It is possible to utilize more than one type of holography to create the illusion of spot holography which can be done with registered printing.

  • It is absolutely possible to use more than one type of holography on a single application. Because of the stunning effect pairing two types of holography can have, this can be a favorite option for designers, who are able to create some incredible finishes.
